Black Gold Overview

Our local library belongs to the Black Gold Cooperative Library System, which was formed in 1964. The BGCL System has member libraries in Ventura, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara counties. Approximately 750,000 people are provided with library services.

The major benefits are:

  • Patrons may use the services of all the libraries with a Black Gold library card.
  • Patrons may request their local library to borrow a book, magazine, or other material from another System library and have the requested item delivered to their local library for check out.
  • Patrons have access to information available through the Internet with Library computers.
  • Wi-Fi access to the Internet is available to Patrons with their own wireless laptop or tablet computers.
  • Your local library card is the only card you need to check out materials in the Black Gold system. You may return library materials at any member library building in the Black Gold Cooperative Library System.
