Check Out What’s Available at the Library

The Blanchard Community Library will host an open house to showcase its many offerings — from books to movies, programs, events, volunteer opportunities, and some new technology. The event will take place on Saturday, February 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“In the spirit of the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday, we invite you to ‘Love Your Library’,” said Ned Branch, District Director. “Come experience the new things the library has for you!”

The aim of the open house is to reacquaint the community with library, and to demonstrate that it is much more than just a building full of books. Information regarding ongoing programs — such as free movie nights, popup programs for aspiring makers, book clubs, and adult literacy and ESL classes — will be on display, as will information about the library’s proposed renovation and expansion.

Lovers of literature and traditional library-related fare may attend hourly children’s’ storytimes and readings by local poet Teresa Giovati Archer. Meanwhile, technophiles may delight in demonstrations of new technology, including a 3D printer, Virtual Reality equipment, and an on-demand laptop borrowing kiosk.

Raffle tickets will be given to attendees for a chance to win various door prizes. Light refreshments will also be available.
