Building English Skills Together (BEST) is the adult learning program at Blanchard Community Library. Our goal is to support adult literacy in the community by offering practical and flexible educational opportunities.
BEST helps people learn to read, write, and speak better English. We also help to prepare for high school equivalency tests, to use computers and other digital tools. To date, we’ve helped hundreds of adults improve their reading and writing skills.
One-on-one tutoring and small group sessions are available year round. They are led by trained and dedicated volunteers committed to helping our learners achieve their goals.

Job Vacancy: Director, BEST Adult Learning Center
Blanchard Community Library is seeking a new Director of the BEST Adult Learning Center. The Director oversees the whole program, coordinates all activities, staff and volunteers, develops programs and publically represents program. Current programs include adult English, GED, job skills tutoring, and family literacy. Programs service both US born adults who struggle with reading/writing, as well as adults who need help with English speaking, reading and writing. Services are presented both in small groups and with one-on-one tutoring. The Director is responsible for program oversight, recruiting and training volunteer tutors, fundraising, budget preparation and administration. Looking for a self-starter, with excellent communication skills, highly organized and comfortable with technology, including social media. Bilingual, Spanish-English preferred.
Hours: 30 hours per week; Pay: $26-$34/hr. plus benefits.
